The Case of the Missing Bloggers

Long time no see. What was going to be a short break - turned into a long one, you know when it stops being fun and becomes work? Yeah that's what happened. And Instagram makes me feel connected to the blog world - so that didn't help.

What's been happening
- We went to Fan Expo in Toronto and had a fab time
- Made a family cookbook for my grandma's 75th
- Put in a new sink (are you old when this is exciting and news worthy???)
- Getting ready for Halloween (what are you being??)
- Sleeping better now that R-Patz and K-Stew are back on (ok I'm joking about the loosing sleep part - not joking about how weirdly obsessed I got about this story)
- Got crafty and made a jewellery display thingy
- Turned 31 - and am going through some weird hair/wardrobe midlife crisis, I'm branching out of my normal comfort zone - buying jewellery , leather pants - animal prints...
- Games nights, games nights, games nights - we need to start tweeting about them so Will Wheaton will invite us to play against him!

Overall really I have just been simplifying life and spending time with family and friends.

A Long Weekend

Canada Day has come and gone.. As we walked home from the fireworks, sleepy kids in tow, we could hear the youngins' partying it up. When did we get all old?? Not to be outdone by the college kids,  I went home cracked a beer - and  fell asleep...

That's not to say we didn't have some celebratory drinks - there were lots, just not all night every night  - so we aren't old...just responsible right? and by responsible I mean I didn't have to cancel movie plans because I was in no condition to drive...that didn't happen at all, and by didn't happen I mean did. but hey it was the long weekend and when trying not to feel old theses things happen

Lazy Days of Summer

Lazy being the key word there. I feel a bit of my blog motivation coming back, so we'll see lol. It's good to take a break sometimes.

I have been cooking and reading alot, and pretty much just enjoying the weather. School is out and I am uber excited to be done making lunches for a few months - it's one of my most dreaded tasks.

These are a few pics from our evening at the Sandbanks , I have decided I much prefer the quietness of the beach in the evening vs the busy touristy day time.

Summer Time

Our weather has definitely turned to summer here! Most of days lately have been spent outside enjoying it - we even went to the beach already, probably the earliest we have ever gone!

Here are a few pics from our trip to a little breakfast crepes restaurant - it was the best thing ever and made me feel a little like we were sitting in Paris (hint, hint Clifford!)

What is new in your neck of the woods? Any big summer adventures planned?

Happy Monday!

How were your weekends? The crazy warm weather here is making it impossible to stay inside. There is alot of this going on:

I have a bunch of things I need to share including some yard sale finds and the gardens I put in this year :)

Artist

Why paint on paper when you have skin?? I was pretty desperate to keep her awake so she wouldn't nap at 6pm and then be up all night. Getting paint out worked, but I am  not always sure the mess is worth it!
* Note: after the bath I found her drawing "tattoos" on her arms with black sharpie - they are never clean for long!

Hope you are having a great week! I hope to finally get caught up on work, but I probably will time waste on pinterest checking out possible hair options for tomorrow's salon visit!

Virus Overload

Happy Monday! Things have been a bit quiet here lately, I was hit with a nasty flu bug and when I was feeling better my computer went and got it's own virus, so we had to gut it and start over. Apparently those lovely people who make those viruses don't care that I have a blog to maintain :)

And now that things are calm, Clifford is off to Toronto for 2 weeks for work, so it's just me and the girls. I think things will go pretty smoothly - how much work can three kids.... alone.... be..none I am sure........

Here's a little instagram peak of what we have been up to - hope you have a great start to your week!

Family Tree

I am hooked on genealogy shows! Who Do you Think You Are, Finding Your Roots and Faces of America are totally blowing my mind right now. So I signed up for ancestry.ca. Now I feel like a detective!  I've trace my family as far back as the 1640's in Massachusetts, I even found some pictures :)

Annie Moran (1881 - 1866)
This is my 2x Great Grandma. I've never seen this picture before,
but she really looks like my dad.

This is my 3x Great Grand Uncle and his wife. He reminds me so much of my brother, Joel.
It must be those mad sideburns!

Amos Bull (1768 - 1832)
He was my 4x great grandfather and this was his house

I also found out on the one side we were descendant from Quakers,
and found lots of stories as well:)

I heart it - alot... I have been trying to use twitter but kind of shut down at the wall of text and # tags, but this being photo based as proven to be more fun for me!

Are you o Instagram? Are you a recent Android adopter? You can find us at @sparrowsandarrows (Jessi) and @kittercall (Cassie) - we love seeing all your photos :)

The House of Fever and Flu

I have been in a major computer rut, We were all sick and now  Lily has been laid up for 2 days with a bad fever. So I spend the days sitting with her on the couch knitting. I will let this be a lazy week and get back on track next week with life, goals and work.

(Oh and I am totally obsessed with cabling right now! So easy why was I so afraid of it??)

Our Christmas

I have been taking a little break from the blog, due to the non-stop circus that is Christmas.

I hope you all had a great holiday and Santa was good to you - I know I got spoiled! I got everything off my wish list, it totally benefits me that Clifford & budgets aren't bff's. Oh and the kids had a great day to! Maya said it was the Best Christmas Ever - and I have to agree with her:)

Now on to NYE prep, and maybe finding some time to read on my new kobo and knit on my new interchangeable needles!

small tree space + family of 5 = pretty packed looking tree!

bubble bath is so exciting!

Monday & Amazon Fail

Happy Monday! Did ya'll have good weekends? Put a dent in your Christmas to do  list? I actually managed to finish a few things! This week I have a few shopping trips planned, and hopefully cross a lot of things off!

Speaking of shopping, this year I did a BIG Amazon order, and had everything shipped here, as in my experience I have always gotten my parcels in a generic Amazon box. Clifford's "big" present was a waffle maker (something he has wanted - I always said no) so I thought it would be a nice surprise.... well it would have if it hadn't been delivered in a non-amazon box, with a big picture of it on the side - while I was at work and he was home... so surprise! Has this happened to you? I am going to have to start shipping things to other people's houses!

On the bright side we have has an extra month of waffle breakfasts!

Oh Christmas Tree

I mentioned earlier that I caved and put the tree up a week early. For the first few days Lily was constantly re-arranging the ornaments - which cause a lot of breakage, but now she seems over it and the rest of the ornaments can give a sigh of relief :)

This year we got a new tree (I have to have artificial due my allergies) , that is quite a bit bigger than our old one, so I think we may to get a few more things to fill it out.

Happy TGIF!

Parade, Cleaning & Crafting

This weekend was our Santa Clause Parade, and with having Swiss Chalet Festive Specials the night before, it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Overall it was a productive weekend, I have been working a lot lately (which I love) but it leaves less time for day to day stuff - like cleaning :). So I cleaned the house from top to bottom, got some work done on some of my Christmas projects, spent time with the fam,and Christmas shopped.

How was your weekend?

A Case of the Monday's

Happy Monday all! How was your weekend?

Our freakish weather continues with +15 weather...I am still using the clothes line - it's kinda crazy, and kinda awesome.

Here's some not so great photos of our annual  family craft we did this year - we always just kind of wing it - that's what happens now I am in charge of picking :) When my aunt's did it, it was way more organized!

Have you started decorating yet? I am counting the days until December 1st so we can finally decorate

Happy Monday

How was your weekend? We celebrated Cassie's b-day by having a girls night back in our home town.. but I don't need to share those embarrassing pics :{

Sunday, we went out for brunch, for a nature walk, had a fire when we got home where we roasted marshmallows. Our weather has been amazing! I can't believe it's November and I can still use the clothes line! Now I need to get started on Christmas and plan what I need to buy/make so that I am not working till the wee hours of Christmas eve :)

What is better than nap time by a fire??

Our Costumes

At the time of these pics, Kate was undecided on her costume - I think she has decided on hobo.

Maya > Dorthy from Wizard of Oz. I made the apron from this pattern, shirt was thrifted and the shoes are from our DC trip
Lily > Hedwig, I made this all from fabric scraps and a long sleeve onesie
Clifford > Professor Lupin - all thrifted!
I am seaming the last side of my sweater and then I can share my costume! Almost done with 2 days to spare, must be a record!

How are your plans going? I'd love to see your costume pics!
