Gan Flea Market

Went to my fave flea market last weekend! Here's what I didn't buy (but should have!)

Fire king mugs 10 for $20

Huge box of Little Golden Books. I wonder what I could have offered for the whole thing?

The cutest cocktail shaker (with matching glasses!!!) ever!

Ceramic cookware in the gravel floored 50% off room. It would have been $10 for the set.
I should have bought this!!!!

Next post, what I actually DID buy :)

Cross Canada Etsy: Winnipeg, Manitoba

All of this is brought to you from Winnipeg, Manitoba! I have never been, but a group of gals I met on baby center, who all have March 2011 babies, are planning a cottage getaway there next summer. Maybe I'll get a chance to check out some of these great makers!

Really cute coinpurses and embroidered acceccories. Such a cute idea for bridesmaids gifts!

Pretty Clutches, in beautiful silks!

So much great vintage, I'm jelly.

Lots of really rustic and rural vintage! Swooning!

In Virginia: Stumps Old Town Antiques

Did I tell you I was going to Virginia for a week? Well I did  :) Had so much fun and mostly relaxed but did run into a super cute antique shop nearby.  Stumps Old Town Antiques was adorable if priced somewhat above you're normal thrift store finds. These people know when they've got good stuff! I left with just pics...but wishing I had bought!

Thrifting Treasures

Here are a few of the things I have picked up recently. a small Samsonite case, some melmac dishes and a laundry hamper.

The quilt top in the first pic was actually my great, great grandma's, and was recently given to me to finish and use :)

Also I got a few picture rails from Ikea to do the forward facing bookshelves for the girls- I like it, I just need a few more so I can put all their books up!

Cross Canada Etsy: Toronto, Ontario

Scott went to school in Toronto, so he is a lot more familiar with Canada's biggest city than I am. I feel like it's the New York of Canada. Big and bustling and busy, full of culture and creativity. I am not a city girl at heart and I max out at about a weekend in the city, too many people for me...but I always enjoy the time that we spend there

I am so in love with this!  The designs here are playful, feminine, and budget minded!

Beautiful silk ribbon embroidery on a variety of mediums! Plus Bumblebees make me think of spring.

Really interesting vintage home decor and accessories. The kind of pieces you just don't find anywhere else.

The packaging is what drew me to this handmade bodycare company!

Cross Canada Etsy: Hometown Edition

Kingston is a great place to live, all the big city amenities with a small town feel. Lots of great old buildings and beautiful limestone. Kingston used to be  the Capitol of Canada before it was moved to Ottawa and it shows in some of the architecture; our city hall is the old parliament building. Thought we'd take this chance to show some of the great Etsy shops here and give us a chance to promote our friends too!

Full disclosure, this is my sister in law <3
But her shop is so cute and she always get the best yardsale and thrift shop deals, how could I not include her? I am totally jealous of her steamer trunks and all that gorgeous Pyrex that adorns her kitchen! Check out her blog here!
And make sure to enter her giveaways!(one on her blog and one on facebook!)

Lots of adorable note cards, prints and felt ornaments.
Plus, she's been featured on Etsy's front page! Hometown pride!

Our friend Emily has the cutest shop full of vintage toys. If you're a fan of retro Fisher Price or Playmobil make sure to stop on by!

Mica

Beautiful jewelry made by Sophie Paolucci incorporating her love for the ocean by working with Pearls, Ocean Jasper, Turquoise and other gems she admires.

Rustic, French inspired linens and decor...and they do custom orders!

Post Holiday Monday

Vacay is officially over - aside from it being next to impossible to get out of bed, I am actually excited to get into the groove of things again.  How were your weekends?

Mine Consisted of:
- a little thrift shop run
- playing some games (apples to apples is our new addiction)
- making a house to do list (curtains, counter, sink, doors etc.  - quick stuff, right?)
- brainstorming session with Cassie for an exciting new opportunity!
- cooking - operation "No Take Out" is in full swing
- and working on the most ridiculous DIY craft project ever for a friends party this coming weekend - will have to wait until after to share, but it makes me laugh every time I walk by it!

this weeks finds
and this lamp! which prompted us to get rid of our floor lamp, which obviously
leads to changing everything on the walls
ingredients for a crazy craft project!

But you probably jusrt want to know about the giveaway, and you should probably head on over to facebook, to find out the rules and prizes (yes it's plural)!

Here's some of what is currently in the shop:

Guest Post > Vintage Halloween Decorations

Hi everyone! I'm Colleen and I blog over at Hello Olive.

October means only one thing: Halloween! Even here in South Africa where it isn't traditionally celebrated, there are costumes and decorations for sale in the shops. My son celebrates his birthday this month and I can't wait until he is old enough to have a Halloween Party. In the meantime, here are some cool (and scary!) vintage decorations I've found.

Make sure to check out Hello Olive -  it's super cute (you can tell she's a designer) and Colleen really  finds the cutest things online!

Yard Sale Season is Wrapping Up

This weekend we hit up a few yard sales - glad that the season isn't quite over yet. Again we had great luck - my friend Emily was looking for care bears for her daughter and we found a whole table of them , I had been looking most the season for the fisher price RV (Emily has one and I've been hoping we could find another) and I did...and it was only 25 cents!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

A "Little" Project

We have a thing for fixer upper projects and maybe just added this to the list ...and by maybe I mean we did! I'm super excited to re-decorate the inside - and Clifford can deal with technical stuff :)

We went back and forth on whether to take our budget and buy a newer one or buy an old one and put the difference into fixing it up and really we just like the feel of the older models - they have more character, so we decided , like everything in our lives, to fix it up and make it our own. If it turns out to be in to rough of shape we'll just sell and look for another one.

I'll post more pics when it's home from the mechanics , where it is getting safetied ..fingers crossed that there are no major issues (at this point I am hooked and could not bear to have to sell it!)

Clifford wanted me to hold off on posting about it unti it was in the driveway - but I have never been good at keeping secrets!
