Japanese Sweaters

If anything was going to inspire me to learn how to read Japanese, it's this sweater book!
So creative and beautiful!

>this one is my fave!!!

Bandana Cowl

I had a bunch of this crazy yarn that I picked up at one of our craft swaps that I didn't know what to do with.  I actually wasn't even sure what weight it was until I looked it up.  Turns out it was bulky and I ended up making the Bandana Cowl from The Purl Bee.

I thought it's simple shape and textures would calm this busy yarn and I think it did...and even though I had two different colorways I still think it looks great.  Pretty sure my sister's going to claim this project too!

Christmas Knitting > Sack Boy

My next project is some Little Big Planet Sack Boys, to give as Christmas presents. I am going to hopefully get 2 done - but we'll see! I have never knit a toy before, and I have a habit of thinking things look easier than they are.

How is your Christmas crafting coming along?

Twilight Inspired Knitting

Cassie and I and some friends are going to go see Breaking Dawn tonight - I can admit it! Who doesn't love some vampire fueled teen angst?

Here's some Twi-Mania knitting inspirations from Ravelry - maybe a Christmas present for the Twi-hard in your life - cause every family has one!

Too Many Projects

I seem to be taking on too many crochet and knitting projects
all at once and none of them are getting done :/

First, I am running out of wool for this poncho.  Thought I was stash busting now realizing I'm going to be way short.  That means I'm discouraged and don't want to finish.

Second, I really need a pair of slippers.  I never make patterns from the knitting magazines I buy so I'm making some from this issue of Knit Simple.  Simple? Yes, but also boring! So not much progress there...

Third, this sweater.  I already hate it and I'm looking for a new pattern so I can frog all this out.  I totally sized it wrong and the "ladies" will never fit in there lol

Fourth, these hexa-grannys.  Maybe someday will be an afghan?  Maybe will sit infinitely at the bottom of my knitting basket? Who knows, but I haven't touched them in months.

Getting into a Groove :)

I am mostly totally exhausted right now.  On top of the normal just having a baby stuff, Abe and I both have a head cold right now.  It's making it a little difficult to keep on top of things but we're muddling through :)

Abe> giving me the "stink eye"

I did start the hat below a while back, and actually knit some of it whilst in labour! It's another one from that retro knitting book that I picked up from SNB; the one that I knit the green/teal hat from.

I'll keep you updated on when I finish this :)  Our friend Leslie told me it took her about a month to master feeding and knitting at the same time, so I have that to look forward to!

Unfinished Business {3}

Another sweater I started ages ago...
I don't even think it was intended for MY baby but it's his now :)
All it needed was buttons, and I have tons of buttons...Love the giant-ness of the hood :)

Pattern here!

An Inappropriate Hat

Suzanne from SNB picked up a bunck of free knitting patterns curbside this week. I snagged this totally rad copy of "Family Headwear & Scarves"

I plan to knit the most inappropriate hat in there, the "Ali Baba".

Talk about unfortunate colour choice....
But imagine it in greens and blues and looking all alien-y!

Blythe Party Dress

The pattern is from Puchi Collective.  They had some great customizing advice, and I thought I'd take a crack at this pattern...Pretty happy for my first attempt at doll clothes, they're pretty fiddly!

Unfinished Business {2}

Sweater that's been sitting around for the last few months
waiting for some finishing touches... its the same pattern that Christie knit for us at the baby shower, but Scooter requested a letterman's jacket.

Thought I'd better finish this before he pops out!
All I really had left to do was weave in some ends & a little applique,
don't think I want to attach buttons.

Blythe Sweater

Knit up a little sweater for my fakey Blythe out of some sock yarn I had lying around (I don't even make socks....I think I'm a hoarder...)

You can get the pattern from Ravelry or here!!

Mini Paper Bunting

Found this mini bunting tute via Ohdeedoh the other day.
Instead of printing off the pattern I cut triangles from some card stock I had laying around and glued it to some more of that left over wedding twine (I have TONS!)

Got Scooter to help me hang it, as I shouldn't be horsing around on ladders right now  :)  It looks sooo cute and it really tying this nursery together!!!

Merfish

I saw this Merfish pattern on Ravelry when I was looking up things to make for the baby's room.  They turned out super cute and with some twine left over from my wedding and a dowel that was laying around, I put together this little wall hanging.

So perfect for the nuggets room!!!

Knitting and Strawberry Tarts

Home sick today :(  Instead of moping, I decided to work on a knitted hat for a co-workers daughter (that's kinda work related, right?) and bake strawberry tarts (which have nothing to do with work).

The pastry crust is a recipe from here and the filling is macerated strawberries and melted apricot and passion fruit  jam.... before I put the tart shells in the oven I sprinkled them with sugar, and they are soooo good!  Totally makes up for my bake fail from other night when I read 1 1/2 cups as 1/2 a cup :P

Trilobite Specimen Display

I've always thought that specimin displays we're really interesting, if sometimes a little creepy, so I put together a knitted one for the nuggets nursery.

The pattern was found on Ravelry and knit up really quickly and the shadow box was a wedding gift.
I looked up the genus/species and viola!  I hope it sufficiently creeps him out :P
