From My Bookshelf > Fifty Shades of Grey

Title: Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy
Author: E.L James

Yep I jumped on this bandwagon...I had no idea what to expect, but I liked Twilight , and after hearing a friend say it was good, I thought I would try it - and I  actually couldn't put it down - which seems to be my MO when it comes to books I am against.

So I imagine most of you know what it's about, and if not..well Twilight S&M fan fiction turned best selling trilogy.  It's explicit... - ban worthy? definitely not. I am not really sure what all the uproar is about. I didn't find it anti-feminist. for me it was a story of 2 people, from different walks off life, trying to find some middle ground. Instead of feeling offended by Grey's character and his umm ... relationship habits  I wanted to learn more about why he was the way he was. Having never read anything in this genre, I have nothing to compare it to  - but I am sure there is way more disturbing books out there.

So did you read ? I am not sold on the idea of this as a movie - unless it's a showtime or HBO series a la true blood... thoughts? It must be kinda weird for K-Stew and R-Patz knowing these were written with them in mind lol...

  1. Hmm..not read it. Will have to check it out. If it was a movie, I would hope it wouldn't be done in the twilight way as they failed for me. Have a wonderful weekend! x

  2. I started reading it two days ago on the e-reader. I'm also not able to put it down and agree that Grey is creepy but fascinating. I wouldn't want to be a naive young girl reading it though. Hopefully no one mistakes if for a Twilight-type book! Poor them!

  3. My SIL didn't like it, but I like Twilight, hunger games, etc. And wished there was a litle more action in Twilight ;) Perhaps not whips and toys action but I'll let you know what I think if I read it!

  4. I've been considering reading this... And I just might. I have to find the time first. Not sure this would be an appropriate "at work" read :)

  5. Oh, this is funny, my friend just told me about this book and I had no idea it was Twilight related (not a plus in my view, I'm afraid..., sorry!) fan-fiction. She did leave that part out... But she did call it 'mommy porn'! :o)
