New Fakey Blythe!

Look what came in the mail this week! 

my new fakey Blythe

She looks SO good and she is way better quality then my last fakey. Her arms are made of much sturdier stuff than my other doll and have a lot more articulation.

Edit: By fakey I mean they are knock offs I got on ebay :P For the purpose of customization, it's a lot less stressful to learn on one of these than it is to start out on an expenive Blythe doll.

Blythe Redo

Fakey Blythe makeover completed last weekend!  Here's a look at her progress so far...

Fresh from the box.

 Green eyeshadow, pepto pink lips, and her hair was awful, weird and greasy feeling...

but I still fell in love right away!

First stage! Lots of work done here. 

Makeup and eyelashes removed, haircut, sanding, carving on eyes and lips.

 Freckles, lipstick, new eyelashes and eyeshadow were added

Wig came in the mail. Cute, but I really wanted to do a reroot....

Rerooted with a soy wool blend, took about a day and a half.

 Purple eyeshadow, lipstick and eyelashes removed. 

Touch up carving and sanding done to lips and eyes.

New, fuller eyelashes added and lips redone with a paler colour and more definition.

This picture does not do justice to the awesomeness of her hair! It is huge!

I think my next project will be her chin...looks a little clefty to me...

Also I think she needs a new body, I snapped her leg off this weekend!

Operation Blythe

I mentioned before I found an original Blythe doll at a little flea market type garage sale (this place looked like an episode of Hoarders) I snatched her up for $2, not sure what I was going to do with it, I knew they were worth a lot on line, even the broken ones.

But when Maya saw it, she got so excited that we had a Blythe, and could we make her pretty again, I decided we had to keep her and we are going to do a complete re-do -hair plugs and all! (Maya is fighting for pink hair, but I think we need to keep her blond). To prepare I have dived into the crazy world that is Blythe

Have you ever restored something like this? I could use all the help I can get - like where do I even buy fake hair??


Also she needs a name! any suggestions??

Sushine & Strange Finds

How was your weekend? It was so so hot here..not the good kind of heat though. The gross humid Ontario heat

Despite the heat - I was pretty busy   had an impromptu gathering Friday night where I made my first 2 Gwyneth recipes (will post later this week) Saturday, as per the norm, was spent yard sailing. We headed out of town and stumbled on some really great places and finds - (Although I think the heat was too much for Maya and she was pretty sick the afternoon). 

My best find was probably the original 1972 Kenner Blythe doll I found - and payed $2 for :) She needs some work but Maya is thrilled to have one (she has some mini ones and has wanted Cassie's for some time) We are excited to fix her all up!

Umbrella Prints Trim Project > Blythe Dress

First completed project with the umbrella prints trimmings!

We're allowed to incorporate other fabric so the yellow top part and the tulle are both thrifted bits I had laying around. The pattern is one of the Simplicity 2353 patterns.

Blythe Party Dress

The pattern is from Puchi Collective.  They had some great customizing advice, and I thought I'd take a crack at this pattern...Pretty happy for my first attempt at doll clothes, they're pretty fiddly!

Blythe Sweater

Knit up a little sweater for my fakey Blythe out of some sock yarn I had lying around (I don't even make socks....I think I'm a hoarder...)

Mini Blythe Dolls!

Cassie found Maya the cutest birthday present - Littlest Pet Shop Blythe collection! I had no idea these even existed, let alone could be found at the local Wal-Mart. She even comes with a little display stand - how cute is that?

I kinda want to go and buy some more... for Maya obviously... not for me at all...

Blythe Wig

I'm currently customizing a fakey Blythe I picked up off of Ebay...I've done lots of work on her so far, but getting new hair for her is making ALL the difference!!!

Straight out of the box.

After the first round of customization. Looking good!
