Happy Tuesday! We are just finished a long weekend here in Canada. Although I didn't make it out to any yard sales this weekend, here's some finds from the past few weekends :)

Yard Sale Season is Wrapping Up

This weekend we hit up a few yard sales - glad that the season isn't quite over yet. Again we had great luck - my friend Emily was looking for care bears for her daughter and we found a whole table of them , I had been looking most the season for the fisher price RV (Emily has one and I've been hoping we could find another) and I did...and it was only 25 cents!

This Weekend in Yard Sales

Had a great time this weekend yard sailing - I had my mind set on things for the RV and got, Tupperware dishes, picnic blanket, vintage cooler, sheets, and so on and so forth. How did your weekend go?

Yard Sale Catch Up

I've been bad a remembering to take pictures of my yard sale finds - here's a little bit of what I have been collecting the past few weeks. Lots of Pyrex and Fire King, and a vintage suitcase for Maya's barbies.

Sushine & Strange Finds

How was your weekend? It was so so hot here..not the good kind of heat though. The gross humid Ontario heat

Despite the heat - I was pretty busy   had an impromptu gathering Friday night where I made my first 2 Gwyneth recipes (will post later this week) Saturday, as per the norm, was spent yard sailing. We headed out of town and stumbled on some really great places and finds - (Although I think the heat was too much for Maya and she was pretty sick the afternoon). 

My best find was probably the original 1972 Kenner Blythe doll I found - and payed $2 for :) She needs some work but Maya is thrilled to have one (she has some mini ones and has wanted Cassie's for some time) We are excited to fix her all up!

Yard Sales and Family

This weekend's loot - I am pretty sure I am have an addiction :) But hey if I can indulge my gather instinct for 6 bucks, why not??

The rest of Saturday was spent about an hour and a half away at my aunt's birthday party, where I pretty much spent my time chasing Lily around and keeping her out of things :)

Little Toaster That Could

Remember my $2 toaster?? Well I got it home and found out it didn't work - a risk I knew I was taking, but it was $2, so you know, worth trying.  I was pretty sad because it was perfect for my kitchen, and being stubborn I refused to believe that it was beyond repair, so I hit the internet.

I found out it was from the 1960's and supposedly one of the best machines Sunbeam ever made "the Cadillac of toasters". Now I loved it more and was prepared to spend some money on getting it fixed, even though I knew Clifford wouldn't be on board with spending money on fixing something that coast 2 bucks. While browsing I stumbled across an ETSY seller who was selling the same one, and thought it wouldn't hurt to email her, maybe she had to fix that one.

Old Green Canoe (a fellow Canadian!) not only answered me right away, but also spent the morning going back and forth with me with what the problem was and suggestions for fixing it - and her suggestion worked - and I wanted to take this time to thank her for helping me out and encourage you to check out the great vintage in her ETSY shop!

Wow this was a lot of writing for a toaster lol :) Have you met any great ETSY sellers who have gone above and beyond?

More things to paint!

This weekend's yard sales have left me with a longer list of things to paint and re-finish, hopefully I can get caught up on my regular work so I can get to it. I also found Kate a Harry Potter Wizard's chess set, she is a little more excited about that than the mirrors :)

More Yard Sale Success

I think I am getting the hang of yard saling  - or just having a lot of luck this year...maybe both? I spent under $10 today, got a vintage fisher price record payer (I am saving this for Lily's 2nd birthday in 2 weeks), a 1960's chrome toaster, which was on my list of things I needed, since mine doesn't match my kitchen and is ugly ... that's a need right? Along with a red plaid  table cloth, napkins, toy stroller and some Dora sand toys for Lily.. not bad for $10!

I have also asked my friend to send me some pictures of her Fisher Price finds today - she got some amazing deals (one thing she bought retails on Etsy for $400!)

Yard Sale Season Has Begun

So I am not a big yard sale-er, or thrift shopper, I go for the social aspect of getting together with friends, but have never been good a spotting things, or the seeing the potential in something. I am also shy and don't like to ask for prices if they aren't marked, because I hate when someone says "Make me an offer".

Well this weekend I feel the tides changed a bit, and I feel a little more like this could be a fun way to spend the weekend mornings (I already have to leave the house so Clifford can sleep..so really it's for him right?). I think it's kinda like when I went to the Casino the first time and didn't win - I was like Casino's are meh. Then I went to one with my grandma and won right away - and then I was like well this is better than I remember lol... just like that :)

This was my favourite find - $1 for all 3  - I felt like I was stealing from them

I have re-style plans for this

I am hoping I can paint this up and find a home upstairs for it
